Phone and computer transfer
How do you transfer files between a phone and computer?
Open 8ma Quick Transfer on the phone and computer to send photos, videos, documents, or archives. There is no cable to find, app to install, or shared account to sign into.
Choose the file on the sending device. Use Nearby Sharing when both devices are on the same WiFi, or send a link, QR code, or 8-character pickup code from anywhere else.
Transfer on the same WiFi
- Connect the phone and computer to the same WiFi, then open 8ma Quick Transfer on both.
- Choose the file on the sender and turn on Same WiFi sharing.
- Select the file under Nearby Files on the receiving device and confirm the download.
What if the devices use different networks?
Choose the file, then send the generated link, QR code, or pickup code to the receiver. Keep both pages open while the receiver confirms and downloads the file.
Does it work with iPhone and Android?
Yes. Windows, macOS, iPhone, and Android devices can use a modern browser. The same steps work when sending from a phone back to a computer.
What should you check for a large file?
Actual speed depends on both devices and their available network bandwidth. Keep both pages open, prevent the phone from locking, and keep the computer awake. Current desktop Chrome or Edge is recommended for very large files.
