When is direct transfer a good fit?
It works well when the editor is online now and the footage needs to be delivered once. Cloud storage remains a better choice when files must stay available, several people will download at different times, or the two sides cannot be online together.

No compression and no reorganizing the folder
Desktop Chrome and Edge support a single file up to 200 GB and folders containing up to 20,000 files. Camera originals, proxies, audio, captions, and project files can stay in their existing folder structure instead of being reduced in quality or split into several archives.
Prepare for a more reliable transfer
- Use the latest desktop Chrome or Edge on both sides.
- When both devices are nearby, prefer Ethernet or 5 GHz WiFi.
- Check that the receiving device has enough free storage.
- Keep both pages open and prevent either computer from sleeping.
Limits to know before you start
Both people need to stay online, and actual speed depends on the available bandwidth and devices. The files do not become a permanent download, so this method is for live delivery rather than footage archiving.
