Computer transfer

How do you transfer files from computer to computer?

Even without a USB drive, cable, or shared folder, two computers can start transferring through their browsers. There is no app to install and no account to create.

The short answer

Open 8ma Quick Transfer on both computers. Choose the file on the sender; on the same WiFi, enable Nearby Sharing. On different networks, send a link or pickup code instead.

Transfer on the same WiFi

  1. Open 8ma Quick Transfer on both computers.
  2. Choose the file on the sender and enable Same WiFi sharing.
  3. Select the file under Nearby Files on the receiving computer and confirm the download.

What if the computers use different networks?

The sender can copy a temporary link, display a QR code, or share the 8-character pickup code. The receiver opens the link or enters the code to download.

Can Windows and Mac transfer files to each other?

Yes. A current browser lets Windows, macOS, and Linux computers exchange files. For very large files, use the current desktop Chrome or Edge.

Does this work for large files?

Yes. There is no separate cloud upload, and the transfer uses the available network bandwidth. Desktop Chrome and Edge support files up to 100 GB.
