No cloud upload

How do you transfer files without uploading them to cloud storage?

If the goal is simply to move a file to another device, there is no need to wait for a complete cloud upload first. 8ma Quick Transfer starts from the sending device and does not create a long-lived online copy.

The short answer

Open 8ma Quick Transfer, choose the file, and give the receiver a temporary link, QR code, or pickup code. On the same WiFi, Nearby Sharing can make the file appear directly.

Transfer directly in three steps

  1. Open 8ma Quick Transfer on the sender and choose a local file.
  2. Use Nearby Sharing, a link, QR code, or 8-character pickup code.
  3. The receiver chooses where to save it, and both pages stay open until completion.

How is this different from a cloud upload?

Cloud storage usually waits for the full upload before the other person can download. 8ma Quick Transfer removes that separate upload stage and begins moving the file from the sending device.

Does the file remain online?

No long-lived cloud copy is created. A share lasts up to 24 hours, and the sender must confirm the original file again after closing the page.

Which files fit this method?

  • Photos, videos, archives, and design work needed on another device.
  • Temporary transfers between computers or between a phone and computer.
  • Files that are too large for a messaging app.
